The poised British actress, Emilia Clarke, was born in London and raised by her theatre loving parents in Oxfordshire. Clarke’s passion for acting began when she was taken aged 3 to a theatre production of Show Boat which her father was working on. Her acting career snowballed after she studied acting at the prestigious Drama Centre London and took part in more than 10 plays. After completing her studies at the renowned Drama School in 2009, Clarke embarked on the journey to create a successful acting career by landing her first television role in the BBC drama series, Doctor, as well as appearing in several advertisements. Her big break came when she was asked to audition for the HBO series Game of Thrones by her agent and was successfully cast in the role of Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons. Based on the series of novels by George R. R. Martin, the television show was a huge hit and Clarke developed a gigantic fan-base through her character. She stated that she’s “had the good fortune of being in this incredible show with this incredible character, and my goodness, if I were to get stereotyped as the Mother of Dragons, I could ask for worse. It's really quite wonderful."
Not only is Emilia a fantastic actress and mesmerising to watch on the screen, since her rise to fame, it has been a mission of hers to contribute to various important charity organisations. Her efforts to raise awareness surrounding the working conditions for nurses in the UK have earned her the position of ambassador to the Royal College of Nursing. Furthermore in 2019, she was named the first ambassador for the global Nursing Now Campaign. Her personal essay was published in The New Yorker which revealed that Clarke suffered from two life threatening brain aneurysms in 2011 and 2013. SameYou was formed by Clarke as a consequence which is a charity organisation aiming to increase neurorehabilitation access for young people after they have suffered a brain injury or stroke.

By winning several awards, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild nominations, Emilia Clarke ventured into new and exciting projects. These included Me Before You, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Terminator. Her latest female lead role portrayed the character of Kate in the romantic comedy, Last Christmas. In an interview with Radio Times, Emma Thompson’s co-writer of the film, Bryony Kimmings, noted that the film was ‘based on the song, Last Christmas by George Michael which deals with themes of unrequited and lost love.
