Wine Review

BLACK CHALK

Wild Rose, 2016, England

Pale copper colour, with an elegant nose of wild red berries, sweet pastry and brioche. Bright and fresh on the palate with exuberant bubbles, and tangy flavours of cranberry, red apple, rose petals, raspberry and brioche on a lingering finish. Delicious with scallops with saffron creamy sauce, lobster terrine, sushis and sushimis.

CHATEAU D'ESCLANS

Rock Angel Rosé 2018, Provence

Soft salmon pink colour, with lively aromas of wild red fruit and spices. The palate is immensely fresh, and accompanied by flavours of wild strawberries, raspberries, lavender, rose petals, pink grapefruit, juniper berries and white pepper on a long finish. Delightful with summer barbecues and mixed salads, fine cured meats, oriental and Mediterranean spicy dishes.

DOMAINE RÉMI JOBARD

Meursault “Les Narvaux”, 2017, Burgundy

Brilliant gold colour, with bright aromas of orchard fruit, nuts and white flowers. This dry white wine with a round mouth is complemented by flavours of pears, lemon, apricots, quince, grapefruit, chamomile, butter and almonds, on an oily finish. Wonderful with salmon tajine, veal fillet with morels, chicken sauté with asparagus.

DÖNNHOFF FELSENBERG

Grosses Gewächs Riesling Trocken, 2016, Germany

Straw-yellow in colour, with a fine nose dominated by floral, fruity and mineral notes. Wonderful freshness on the palate, with explosive flavours of dried apricot, lemons, pear, honeysuckle, almonds, and apples which persist on a lingering finish. Enjoy it with shellfish risotto, prawn fritters and veal sauté with morels.

IL DRAGO E LA FORNACE

Carbonaie 2015, Italy

Intense ruby red, with deep aromas of ripe red fruit. The palate provides a robust body, followed by elegance and complexity, presenting a mix of blackberries, raspberries, cinnamon, leather and nuts, with a persistent aftertaste. Will pair beautifully with beef on skewers, cheeses (old Comté, Gorgonzola, Gruyère)
