Hailee Steinfeld, 22, grew up in Los Angeles, California to parents Cheri, an interior designer, and fitness trainer Pete Steinfeld, where she began her acting career at the tender age of eight. After studying at Cynthia Bain’s Young Actor Studio, she landed her very first agent when she was 9 and began appearing in TV commercials, including a Kmart clothing ad.

Her many achievements include being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her breakout role as 'hard-as-rocks' teen Mattie Ross in True Grit when she was just 14. She has also starred in one of our favourite musical comedy franchises - Pitch Perfect 2. There is obviously young musical talent in Steinfeld as she landed a record deal, released an EP and saw two of her singles go platinum. Describing her anxieties with transitioning from film to music, she said in 2018, “As an actor, I’m masked by characters, protected by them. But as a musician, it’s my story, my voice, my face. It’s such a different kind of vulnerable.”

Hailee Steinfeld’s recent venture into the Transformers world, set in the 80's, was nothing but sharp and funny as she played the awkward but poignant protagonist, Charlie. There were some hesitations by fans of the franchise as to whether this prequel would spark any interest, but it certainly did just that.

So, what's next in store for Hailee Steinfeld? We are excited to take an inside look into the world of a world-renowned writer. The TV series, called Dickinson, is currently in pre-production for 2019 but we know that Steinfeld will do a phenomenal job in taking on the role of Emily Dickinson.
