It was at the beginning of the 19th century that Alphonse Mellot created an inn in Sancerre where he served and appreciated the wines of the country. Today, the family home continues its development, from father to son, the eldest of each generation bears the name of the founder. Alphonse Mellot Moussière 2013 100% Pinot Noir offers a remarkable bouquet of black and red fruits with rich notes of raspberry, blackberry and currants. This wine is remarkably complex also revealing some notes of pink pepper, vanilla and cinnamon. In the mouth, we find these same notes with a long, rich and pleasant finish. Enjoy it with red tuna, chicken ballotine, pan fried veal liver, cherry clafoutis.
Château Bouscassé Vieilles Vignes is made from 100% Tannat, whose vines are over 50 years old. It charms us from the very first glance with its intense garnet colour. On the nose, it is fine and elegant but delights us with a powerful fruitiness chiefly black fruits, blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry. On the palate, its texture is fine and straight with melted tannins. Fruity and racy, it develops aromas of black fruits with a note of red fruits. Pair deliciously with beef steak with Roquefort sauce, snails a la Bordelaise, cheese board (bleu cheese, ewe cheese, matured Brie).
Clos Canarelli is a real haven of peace. In its vineyards, Yves Canarelli meticulously strives to maintain his vines thanks to the principles of biodynamic and organic viticulture. True to the ancestral know-how of the island, the winemaker engages in rigorous work to produce the best wines, certified by Ecocert for several years. This Clos Canarelli Rouge 2015 is a nugget of Corsican wines. Light and fruity, this organic certified Figari PDO is made from the blend of Syrah and Niellucciu, a regional grape variety. Its purple colour suggests a seductive elegance. Its nose is harmonious and subtle, revealing aromas of red fruits and smoky and wild notes. On the palate, it is delicate and racy, slightly acidic. The tannins are ample and melting. Pair it with grilled quails, pork fillets with figs, a plate of charcuteries, ewe cheese.
Vieilles Vignes red from Domaine du Clos des Fées was created from a blend of the estate’s oldest vines, aged between 50 to 100 years old. It contains 50% Grenache/Lledoner Pelut, 35% Carignan and 15% Syrah. Under its dark red colour with ruby hues, the wine reveals an intense and captivating nose. Spicy notes of black pepper, clove and fruity touches of blueberry jam, cherry and raspberry are combined. Swirling the glass, the wine offers aromas of liquorice, herbs of Provence and vanilla. It is elegant and very feminine. On the palate, the Vieilles Vignes red 2012 is a full-bodied wine. The density of the wine is remarkable, the tannins are crisp but sensual. Minty and fruity, the finish is both refreshing and seductive. Delicious with lamb curry, couscous Tunisian, beef steak with shallots confit, cheese board (Roquefort, farmed Brie, Bleu d’Auvergne), coffee Millefeuille.
Domaine Tissot was created in 1962 and today it is Stéphane Tissot and his wife who have taken over the family estate. The conversion to organic farming began in 1999 and since 2004, the estate has followed the principles of biodynamics. Domaine Tissot En Barberon 2016 100% Pinot Noir reveals a beautiful ruby colour and gives off aromas of red fruits like sour cherry and wild strawberry followed by spicy notes that brings complexity to the wine. In the mouth, we find the unctuous red fruits brought by the Pinot Noir. The finish is long and elegant. Pair well with alpine charcuterie, magret de canard, cheese board (Reblochon, Camembert, goat cheese)
