Wine Review

Agricola Occhipinti, SP68 2015, Italy

This white SP68 2015, has a powerful nose, aromatic, complex and fresh. Citrus notes (orange, grapefruit) blend with fresh musk and spices. In the mouth there is perfect balance and unstoppable freshness with a smoky, floral complexity. It finishes on blond tobacco notes with flinty nuances involved in the mineral sensation. Pair it with fresh foie gras terrine, monkfish risotto or panna cotta with a fruit coulis.

Brundlmayer, Steinmassel Riesling 2014, Austria

The Steinmassel Riesling of Bründlmayer opens with delicate notes of stoned fruits, with floral and mineral nuances. The palate delivers firm freshness, offering exotic and spicy flavours. This Riesling is beautiful, clean, structured, and intense, with a subtle mineral finish. Perfect with oyster tartare, spinach salad with smoked fish or lemon tart.

Egon Muller, Scharzhof 2013, Germany

The Riesling Scharzhof is the ideal introduction to the “style” of Egon Müller: with intense aromas of green fruit, peach and slate, a powerful mouth built around a crystalline acidity. This Riesling is pure and vibrant, with a remarkable intensity. To enjoy over red tuna carpaccio, langoustine salad or Bleu d'Auvergne.

Errazuriz, Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Chile

Errazuriz’s Sauvignon Blanc 2015 restores all the aromas of the grape variety: invigorating notes of citrus, exotic fruit, fresh grass and tomato leaf. In the mouth its beautiful acidity cuts through the fruit with intensity and energy. Very clean, crisp and tender, this Sauvignon Blanc is the ideal compromise between roundness, fruitiness and freshness. Beautiful with fresh asparagus with a mousseline sauce, grilled pork cutlets with apricots, or goats cheese with herbs.

Kleine Zalze, Family Reserve Chenin Blanc 2014, South Africa

Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Chenin Blanc 2014 is for the true wine lover. Concentrated aromas on the nose of lime and melon highlighted on the palate with hints of nuts and herbs. This magical fruit-finesse is supported by the complex and beautifully integrated oak. With a wonderfully creamy mouthfeel and long finish, it is charmingly fresh and earthy. Wonderful with feuilleté of prawns and scallops, grilled Sea Bass with sauce Vierge or a mango tarte Tatin.

Nyetimber, classic Cuvée 2010, England

This house is at the forefront of producers of British sparkling wines. With a tasty and charming texture, it differs from the majority of wines and is an honest classic. With a pale colour, a bright nose with hints of lemon and fine herbs and a very tasty savouriness. The quality and finesse of its fruit is incredibly elegant. Dosage impeccable, neither too much nor too little. The wine looks young but perfectly ripe, an excellent balance of a kind which clearly approaches a tangy freshness. A delicious and delicate sparkling wine. Pair this with sashimi, grilled lobster or truffled cheeses.

Sota Els Angels, Flow Blanc de Noir 2013, Spain

Flow has the clarity, honesty and freshness of a natural and lively young wine, which is easily drunk without complications. On the nose, citrus aromas, with notes of white flowers. On the palate, there is a strong but not aggressive acidity; this is a lively wine, long and deep. A delight with scallops served in the shell, arctic char meunière or strawberry & white chocolate mille-feuille.
