All eyes will be on Buckingham Palace this May as the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday. However, there’s a flurry of activity taking place in the neighbouring building too. Northacre is converting 1 Palace Street into a block of 72 luxury apartments, set to complete in December 2017. Overlooking Buckingham Palace gardens and set in the heart of the Birdcage Walk Conservation Area, the Victorian structure has high ceilings (up to 4.7 metres), plenty of lateral space and excellent security. In its original incarnation as a hotel, it hosted many royal visitors. Now reconfigured as a set of palatial apartments, it’s likely that its next occupants will be every bit as distinguished.
With a number of high-end residential developments in and around Winchester under its belt, Alfred Homes will be launching a new set of properties in the Home Counties. Projects are scheduled for Weybridge, Virginia Water, Sonning-on-Thames and the Webb estate in Purley. Characterised by traditionally inspired architecture and attractive settings, these new developments from Alfred Homes look set to be as popular as the company’s previous ventures.
Since the 1950s, The Marbella Club in Spain has attracted a glittering crowd, from Audrey Hepburn to Lawrence Olivier. Set in the hotel grounds, Villa del Mar was formerly the home of an Andalusian aristocrat and has been recently refurbished to create a one-of-a-kind rental. The six-bedroom villa can sleep up to 12 and comes with a 24-hour butler, chef, steam room and Jacuzzi, and its own infinity pool. Surrounded by private gardens and close to the beach, it’s the perfect sun-kissed getaway.
