Wine Review

Castagna, Allegro Syrah 2010, Australia

The Allegro Syrah Castagna is a rosé of character, deliberately powerful and vinous: intense aromas of red fruit (cherry, strawberry) and spices (pepper)support a generous mouth, full, with very persistent spicy flavors. Perfectly dry, well structured, Allegro is a great gastronomic rosé. Pair this with pan fried scallops or oven baked sea bass.

Cloudy Bay, Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Marlborough, New-Zealand

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is recognized worldwide as the reference white Sauvignon of Marlborough. Its vivacity and the quality of its fruity aromas as fine as exuberant (green fruit, citrus, fresh vegetal) have made it successful. The Cloudy Bay is a salivating wine, intense, greedy, offering a great feeling of purity and brilliance. Excellent with asparagus, carpaccio of scallops or goat cheese.

Monteviejo, Lindaflor Malbec 2007, Argentina

Lindaflor originates from high altitude vineyards of the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The powerful nose falls on very ripe fruit (black cherry), liquorice, pepper and a subtle touch of nutmeg. Roundness, smoothness and strength are the qualities that predominate. Lindaflor’s Malbec is a beautiful and faithful expression of the high terroirs of Mendoza. Perfect with beef tenderloin with a red wine mushroom sauce or fig tartlets.

Montsecano, Refugio Pinot Noir 2013, Chile

A small domaine entirely dedicated to Pinot Noir, Montsecano exclusively produced two vintages of which this Refugio is a wine of character, very far from the clichés of the New World. Refugio is toned and well-structured, with a very digestible and mineral expression. One of the best wines of Chile. Well balanced with venison steaks with wild mushroom sauce or roasted pork tenderloin.

Ridge Vineyard, Monte Bello 2000, United States

Cuvée Monte Bello summarizes the genius of its creator, Paul Draper, who brought this wine to the top of world production.Issued from altitude vineyards this vintage of Bordeaux inspiration provides the California fullness of fruit with a degree of absolute finesse. The complexity of the nose evokes the greatest Cabernets with a woody very subtle feel. The fresh mouth feels very free, with tannins of extreme delicacy, delivering a silky, deep fruity finish of infinite length. The Monte Bello Ridge is simply one of the greatest wines in the world. To savour with beef with ceps, Livarot or Yarg cheese.

Shizen, Cuvée Denis Dubourdieu 2011, Japan

Winemaker, professor of oenology and renowned consultant Denis Dubourdieu has a passion for Japan. At the foot of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi region, the heart of Japanese wine, he was seduced by the Koshu grape. He draws this cuvée with clear precision, light in alcohol with refined aromas (flowers, white fruit, citrus). Very pure and vinified to exalt its delicacy and lightness, it is a very happy discovery. A great match with oysters au gratin, or sushi and sashimi.
